A number of national surveys on protein analysis
have been carried out in the Nordie countries
throughout the years. The first one carried out in
1977
(l),
revealed an unacceptable inter laboratory
variation. Later, in a Nordkem sponsored protein
project (2) great effort was taken to mustrate the
effect of using a common calibrator as weil as the
interference of turbidity.
In 1992 the IFCC Committee on Plasma Protein
Standardization decided to perform a world wide
quality assessment project before and after the
release of CRM 470, the reference preparation of
plasma proteins certified by the Community Bu–
reau of Reference, Commission of the European
Table
l.
Communities (BCR) (3) and the College of Ame–
rican Patologists (CAP). In the IFCC quality ass–
essment project the aim is to study the effect of the
implementation of the common calibrator on the
interlaboratory agreement of protein analysis.
The IFCC committee offered two liquid serum
samples w
hi
ch were sent to the national organizers
of the EQA schemes. The survey was carried out in
April-May 1993. The statistkal work was carried
out by Labquality.
34 Danish, 30 Finnish, 38 Swedish and 29
Norwegian laboratories participated. In addition
14Swiss laboratories participated, and these results
are also included in the present results.
Results from externa) quality assessment schemes in the Nordie countries.
