work and to make high quality papers and com-
munications. I think that scientific work addressing
our practical routine and our interactions between
clinicians and patients are of the utmost importance
and is where EFLM should lead the way. This work
will make it attractive for specialists in laboratory
medicine to join with EFLM. The scientific activity
in EFLM is growing rapidly, and published papers are
presented on the EFLM website. These are only a few
items of the 18 items on the strategic plan – and I also
think that other ideas will emerge during the coming
months. I do hope that I am receptive for new ideas
from you – so just tell me!
Why should you join the EFLM?
At present EFLM has 4 “officers” from Denmark, 2
from Finland, 9 from Norway, 7 from Sweden and 0
from Iceland. These are members or corresponding
members of WGs or TFGs. We need more people from
the Nordic countries. So if you want to participate in
international collaboration, if you want to meet clever
people, if you want to work on some of the topics EFLM
is engaged in or if you want to generate new groups, you
should go through your national society and apply. It
is not difficult. And if you are still hesitant, you should
contact me – or start to read this article from the start.
