Museum of Finland which is filled with the riches
of Finnish history. In Design Museum you will find
the story of Finnish design by Aalto, Marimekko and
Wirkkala. The Finnish National Gallery Ateneum
holds a large collection of Finnish, Scandinavian and
international art masterpieces. After visiting all the
interesting museums, you might need a cup of coffee.
A nice place to sit down for a while is the Esplanade
Park and its many restaurants or the Market Square
nearby. From the Market Square you can hop on a
ferry and visit Suomenlinna Sea Fortress, a UNESCO
World Heritage site. Archipelago cruises to discover
maritime Helsinki leave also from the Market Square.
And from Helsinki it takes only a couple of hours
on a ferry to visit Tallinn, the capital of Estonia or a
few hours on a train to visit St. Petersburg in Russia.
Current statistics show that Helsinki is surprisingly
the busiest passenger harbour in the world!
As we all know sauna is a important part of every
Finns’ life. Don´t miss a proper sauna experience. In
the heart of Helsinki you can take a sauna bath and
swim in the Baltic at Allas or at Löyly. Maybe shop-
