The structure of the University of Iceland comprises
six academic schools and 25 faculties. Faculties at the
academic School of Health Sciences are Faculty of
Medicine, Faculty of Nursing, Faculty of Pharmaceu-
tical Sciences, Faculty of Food Science and Nutrition,
Faculty of Odontology, and Faculty of Psychology.
At the Faculty of Medicine various academic pro-
grammes are offered both at the undergraduate, as
well at the masters and doctoral levels. The under-
graduate programmes consist of a programme lead-
ing to the degree of Candidatus Mediaciae (Cand.
Med.), 360 ECTS-credits, and other programmes
leading to a Bachelor of Sciences (BS) degree in the
following departments; Physical therapy, (240 ECTS-
credits), Biomedical Science, (180 ECTS-credits), and
Radiography, (ECTS 180-credits). The Departments
of Biomedical Science, and of Physical Therapy, and
Radiography are all housed in a new reorganized
building, called Stapi, which is located near the main
building of the University of Iceland.
The School of Health Sciences works in a very
good collaboration with the Landspitali University
Hospital and is therefore capable of giving students
excellent opportunities for training, researches, and
teachings programmes at different fields at the Land-
spitali University Hospital.
