HELP-FILE: ABOUT SSCC & ROSAN
The Clinic Committee of the Scandinavian Society for Clinical
Chemistry (SSCC) has decided to create and maintain a directory of
rare analyses for the ordic countries.
The purpose of this database is to enable laboratories and doctars
• to find a laboratory capable of performing a special test
or quantitating a special component or
• to identify an individual with special knowledge
concerning the use of tests or proeectures for diagnosis or
characterisation of rare diseases.
The register's prime purpose is to create a possibility for contact
between two parties: between one who is in need of a service
and the supplier of this service.
The first version of the ROSAN DataBase was released as a
DOS-based pc-software and as an on-line (BBS-)service, where
subseribers could find the information needed.
This updated version is now released as an Internet Service for
the members of SSCC and other interested parties combined
with a stand-alone pc-application for Windows 95 giving the user
<
possibility to supplement the information in the ROSAN
DataBase with his own separate database of other analyses/tests
used by his/her institution.
Registered users of the pc-application will here find the
possibility to down-load updated versions of the DataBase to be
used locally, thus reducing access-time to the information needed.
Registered users can also subscribe to a diskette-hased
up-dating service for the DataBase.
The SSCC expects the register to become very useful in modern
cost-effective laboratory medicine. This comprehensive and
continuously updated database will assist and support all the
Nordie hospitals and health care systems in their efforts to
provide high-quality and fast service to patients at the lowest
possible cost for the community.
