volurnes, tirning of reactivation and of measurements) while
still producing comparable results.
Scope of ECCLS standards for Enzyme Determinations in clini–
cal laboratories.
The ECCLS standards for enzyrne determinations are established
to ensure day-to-day intra- and inter-laboratory consistency
of results leading to clinical information of improved value,
rnore clearly defined reference ranges and greater comparabi–
lity arnong laboratories and external quality assessment pro–
grarnrnes.
The ECCLS standards are intended as consensus standards de–
tailing reaction conditions for measurement of the catalytic
activity concentration of creatine kinase (CK), aspartateand
alanine aminotranferases (ASAT and ALAT), and gamrna-glutamyl
transferase (GT) in human serum, and are intended for the as–
sistance of rnanufacturers, professional societies and indivi–
dual professionals in laboratory medicine, health agencies,
and organizers of external quality assessment programrnes.
Successful implementation
sistance of reagent and
of this standard requires the as–
instrument manufacturers, and of
health authorities, and the a vailability of enzyme reference
preparations with properties conforrning to the specifications
of the ECCLS Subcommittee o n Enzyme Reference Materials.
