Klinisk Biokemi i Norden
(Fortsat fra side 40)
perfect example of how to add value to laboratory
medicine. This is also something we all should be
doing in our own hospitals. But are we in Nordic
countries willing for the extra effort?
One of the meetings concerned an EFCC Working
Group on cardiac markers, which I am chairing. The
Working Group had its meeting in Innsbruck. We
were discussing the survey which we are presently
performing in European countries on the use and
implementation cardiac markers and the guideli-
nes for their use. I hope all Nordic laboratories will
respond to this survey. It is important that we have
responses from all European countries and as many
laboratories as possible. You will find the questionn-
aire on the website (http://www.carmague.fi/2/).
On Wednesday June 6th EFCC had its General
Assembly. In this meeting a new Executive Board was
elected and the site for the 2013 EuroMedLab was
voted for. Rita Horvath is the new EFCC President,
Ian Watson is the President-Elect, Vic Blaton the
Past-President. Hans van Pelt was elected unopposed
to be the Secretary, Peter Schuff-Werner the Treasu-
rer. Mario Pazzagli and Kari Pulkki were elected for
their second terms as Members-at-large after voting.
The main excitement of the General Assembly was
the selection of the 2013 EuroMedLab site. There
were three bids, Stockholm, Paris and Milano and
their representatives gave presentations on their sites.
Hans Wallinder gave a very nice presentation on
Stockholm bid, but on voting Milano was elected
by a majority of votes and Stockholm and Paris got
equal votes.
I have been reporting of the IFCC website being
under development. The new IFCC website went
alive in January and it has been updated in June
with all the databases (www.ifcc.org ). Website is an
important tool of communication for IFCC. Please,
visit this website often, because there you will find
all the important dates of the forthcoming meetings,
information on the Executive Board meetings and
Division meetings. The next important date is April
16-19, 2010, when the IFCC General Conference will
be held in Corfu, Greece.
I wish you all a colourful autumn!
