NQLM,
Nordie Committee for External Quality
Assurance Programmes in Laboratory
Medicine
a forum for communication and cooperation
NQLM consists of one or more representatives
from each of the organizers of externa! quality
assurance programmes in laboratory medicine in
the Nordie countries (Denmark, Finland, Iceland,
Norway and Sweden).
The aim of NQLM is to provide a forum for
exchange of knowledge about quality related matt–
ers - especially to externa! quality assurance
programme- arising mainly in Nordie and Euro–
pean countries.

can furthermore work as a task
force in mutually agreed topics of common interest
according to an agreed work pragramme.
NQLM appoint a convener among its members
for a functioning period of two years.
NQLM intends to obtain recognition from
Nordie scientific associations within laboratory
medicine, for example Nordisk Förening för Kli–
nisk Kemi (NFKK, Scandinavian Society ofClinical
Chemistry).

also seeks recognition as a formal
group within the European Confederation for
Laboratory Medicine (ECLM).

adopted in the work programme
stepwise in future; l . establishment of target values
to samples used in externa! quality assessment
schemes (EQAS) in Nordie countries, which may

lead to creation of a laboratory network for provi–
dingtarget values; 2.use ofcommonEQAS-samples
in the Nordie EQAS; 3. preparation of a list of
Nordie nomenciature for EQAS originating from
international recommendations; 4. interpretation
of the Helsinki declaration and rules for good
clinical practice regarding the use ofpatient samples
in EQAS; 5. development of common strategies
toward authorities regarding requirements for safety
(infectious agents, dry ice for transport), packaging,
mailing of EQAS samples, and for custom rules;
exchange of information about available packing
material and mailing companies.
