Rule module
Description
Analyzer-specific This rule rejects the result if the
flags
analyzer has flagged the result with
any of the flags listed as parameters
of this rule. If the rule is used without
parameters any flag rejects the result.
Bull’s algorithm
This rule calculates a moving average
of the results according to the formula
known as Bull’s algorithm and param-
eters given in a separate file. The rule
is activated if the result is outside the
limits specified in the file.
Delta check
This rule calculates the difference (or
relative difference) which can be cal-
culated in a variety of ways of the
current and previous result. It can also
be used as a rate check to calculate the
rate of change between the current and
previous result. The parameters of this
rule are the greatest allowed decrease
and/or increase between the previous
and the current result, the calculation
method and a time limit. The calcula-
tion method can be the absolute dif-
ference, the difference as a percentage
of the previous result, the difference
as a percentage of the current result,
the difference as a percentage of the
average of the current and previous
result or any of the mentioned differ-
ences divided by the number of days
elapsed between the current and previ-
ous results. The time limit is used to
forbid the application of this rule when
too many days have elapsed between
the current and previous result.
Previous
This rule rejects the result if a
result exists?
previous result of the same assay for
the same patient exists within the
time span specified as the parameter
of this rule.
Patient’s sex
This rule rejects the result if the patient’s
sex is the same as the parameter of this
rule (male, female or unknown).
Result group for This rule is used in combination
rejected results
with other rules to direct the rejected
results into a separate result group.
Result group for This rule is used in combination
accepted results
with other rules to direct the accepted
results into a separate result group.
