Nordic congress 2014 in Göteborg
Ola Hammarsten
On behalf of the Organising Committee we want to
invite you to the XXXIV Nordic Congress in Clinical
Chemistry, which will take place on September 16-19,
2014 at Svenska Mässan in Göteborg.
Our scientific committee is planning an ambitious
and interesting programwith an overall theme: “Future
opportunities in clinical chemistry”. This will entail
seminars covering good examples of how the labora-
tory with its wealth of expertise among physicians,
chemists and laboratory engineers can further develop
as a diagnostic partner. Seminars, plenary sessions and
workshops will cover novel aspects of risk assessment
and diagnostic tools using biomarkers, genomics and
imaging techniques. A special section will be devoted
on emerging techniques involving nanotechnology,
next generation sequencing and beyond. Posters
will be on display close to the seminar rooms in the
congress hall and will be highlighted in guided poster
walks and prizes. Also, a trade exhibition will take
place at the congress venue throughout and industry
sponsored seminars will be held as breakfast seminars
and special lunch seminars. Details of the programme
will be published on the website of the conference
as it develops.
Svenska Mässan and all of the preferred hotels are
in the centre of Göteborg. In addition our meeting
will have a private entrance in Svenska Mässan close
to the Liseberg Amusement Park and walking distance
to Götaplatsen and the southern end of the main
boulevard Avenyn where the city’s culture centre is
concentrated, all contributing to make the stay and
attendance convenient and fun.
Gothenburg, Sweden’s second largest city, is located
on the west coast and in the early fall Göteborg usually
is at its prime. Closeness to the sea results in top-qual-
ity, fresh fish and seafood and possibility to experience
river-ferries to view of the city from the water and the
archipelago just around the corner. For more informa-
tion on Göteborg, the official visitor’s guide provides
good guidance
We hope to see you in Göteborg!
